Nuclear receptors are a unique family of transcription factors that play a key role in nearly all biological processes, including development, metabolism and reproduction. As these receptors bind hormones, nutritional substances and drugs, they can directly influence gene expression and a variety of intracellular signal pathways.

Better understanding of the molecular interaction between nuclear receptors and their coregulators and ligands in gene regulation is fundamental to better understanding of the signal pathways of nuclear receptors in cancer and other diseases.
